About the course

This course is designed for osteopaths that seek to expand their knowledge in the paediatric field, including osteopaths who have limited or no experience in treating children as well as Osteopaths with more paediatric experience who may want to refresh and broaden their knowledge in this field.

The course content will be parted in 3 major arears: Paediatric anamnesis, Paediatric red flags in relation to (general moments, milestones & relevant reflexes) & Paediatric Examination The course format is mainly theoretical, with a small amount of practice on dolls and of relevant manual tests or techniques.

Course content

The Paediatric anamnesis is the first building block of any safe & efficient paediatric consultation. We will dive into the specific questions for this population, that will make your examination more to the point. Considering the aspects of the paediatric anatomy, physiology, neurology & red flags. In the Paediatric Red Flags, we will cover the area of general moments, milestones & relevant reflexes, to be able to evaluate if the baby is safe to examine & where to focus the examination. In the Paediatric Examination, we will focus on making an efficient evaluation of the medical, general mechanical and application of your favorite osteopathic examination. To evaluate if the baby is safe to treat & where to focus our brief “window of opportunity” when working with little ones. The course content is based on the available research if possible. Particular attention will be given to how to optimize the paediatric examination.

Instructor

Didde Thorsted is an Aut. Physiotherapist, Aut. Osteopat DO. M.R.O.DK, Naturopath and she also holds a DO & a PG Cert in Paediatric Osteopathy. Didde is a co-owner of Qklinik, five osteopathic clinics in the heart of and around Copenhagen, that specialises in the treatment of women and children. She has worked in the paediatric field since 1997 and from 2010 exclusively with 0-12 year olds, with a majority of clients under one year of age.  She has participated in considerable amount of paediatric courses locally and abroad, along with craniosacral therapy at The Upledger Institute and visceral treatment at The Barral Institute, with primary focus on paediatric treatment.
