Gunn will be teaching orofacial and cranial techniques by Bernard Darraillans including the morphogenetic fields. On the second day she will cover functional orthodontics, infant swallowing and other factors influencing occlusion, the teeth and craniofacial growth.
Gunn has a background as a physiotherapist, finished her osteopathy in 97 in DOK, Germany. She attended numerous postgraduate courses and conferences with Darraillans, Druelle, Molinari, Barral, Camirand as well as Magoun, Mitchell and Frymann, all students of Sutherland. She assisted Frymann on her last visit/conference in Chiemsee, Germany.
For 4 years, Gunn did research on how sucking-swallowing mechanism affects the development of the infant skull with her twin sister Line Kvivik Cote. They won the Sutherlands prize with their thesis: “Breastfeeding and its influence on the infant skull” in 2003. Their mentor was Bernard Darraillans, which had a great impact on their practice as they both assisted him at numerous conferences in Germany and France.
Gunn moved to Norway in 2000 and started her clinic in Kristiansand. She gives lectures to osteopaths, midwives and orthodontists about breastfeeding, orofacial development, infant swallowing and occlusion. Gunn is also a dedicated kayaker involved in education of kayak instructors. When she doesn´t work, she kayaks around the Mediterranean islands with Line or in the beautiful archipelago of Norway.
Some words from Gunn about Bernard:
I am honored to be passing on the knowledge of Bernard. He had a special palpation skill communicating with the deep feelings imprinted in the patient’s tissues. Even though he was partially blind, he seemed to see with his heart and his hands. Bernard developed his conscience throughout his life always seeking new and deeper knowledge. He wrote several books about fascia, occlusion and functional orthodontics. Later in life he was involved in PNI, neuroscience, quantic physics and biodynamics.
Throughout his teaching he became above all the reference person for a lot of osteopaths for his somato-emotional approach, including us. We met him 30 years ago in our first year of osteopathy teaching a fascia course in Germany. He left a true imprint in both of us becoming our osteopathic “Father” as well mentor for our thesis.
